Mailchimp not receiving person's surname..

    Hey

    The form works great but I have noticed in the Name field only the 1st part of the name is sumitted to MailChimp and not the Surname…

    So if I fill out the form and enter ‘Jasdip Sagu’ into the Name field (as well as entering the email address) only Jasdip will show on Mailchimp & it’s confirmation emails etc?

    Is there a way to incorporate everything that is entered in the name field without having to add a ‘surname’ field?

    Hello!
    Most likely problem is because you didn’t used default Name fields in MailChimp. Please go to your list in MaiChimp account -> Settings -> List fields and *|MERGE|* tags – here should be FNAME and LNAME (for First and Last Name), please check this on screenshot – http://prntscr.com/a46fxp

    Please try to change tags for Name fields. It should work correct after this.

    I am still confused as I only have 2 fields, a name & email field. Sometimes somebody might just put in their first name and sometimes somebody might put in their full name. So would be nice to get their full name within that 1 field…

    Isn’t the example you have sent for a 3rd field?

    Okay, I have managed to sort this out!!!

    But can you help me with this? I am getting this error message when user does not put their surname and would like to change it –

    LNAME must be provided – Please enter a value

    I would like to change it to something like ‘Please enter your full name’

    Hello!
    In MailCimp settings you specified Last Name field as required, therefore you see this default message from MailChimp – LNAME must be provided – Please enter a value

    Go to your list in MaiChimp account -> Settings -> List fields and *|MERGE|* tags – here you can uncheck “required” checkbox – http://prntscr.com/a4irwn

    Hey!

    Can I change the error message? Everything else works in popup & mailchimp..

    ‘LNAME must be provided – Please enter a value’ —-> ‘Please enter your full name’

    I just want to be able to change this error

    Hello!
    Unfortunately I cannot help you with this – as I said before it is default message from MailChimp. And you cannot change it via popup settings.
    Please contact MailChimp support, they shpuld help you.

    I have contacted Mailchimp and this is what they have said…

    “Definitely understand the concern with getting a signup form created and designed as you wish, especially when first launching a site. To set the proper expectations here, the Popup by Supsystic plugin being used is a third party integration. Our ability to provide support for third party integrations is very limited.

    Having said that, I’d like to help out in any way that I can here. It appears the developer has chosen to pass the merge tag value directly back inside the error message. We’re unable to change the merge tag value being used on the MailChimp side of things. Merge tags must be all capitals in order for the system to recognize them at the time of a campaign send. We will not be able to change the capitalization of those merge tags. Unfortunately, the only way to “beautify” the error message being presented by the plugin is for the developer to encode some error handling within the plugin. I apologize for the inconvenience that presents with your site and the plugin being used. Reaching out to them again is the best way to move forward with getting the plugin to respond as desired.”

    Is there anything you can do to make the merge tag be translated into a field that would suit me for example “Last Name” instead of “LNAME”? Would be nicer for the users to see ‘last name’ instead of a tag field..

    Hello.
    I want to let you know that we just released new version of our PopUp plugin – where we made improvements specially for you: now all tags from MailChimp (LNAME, etc.) in error messages – will be replaced with their real names (“Last Name”, etc.), so you can update and check this.
