    Hi –
I was speaking with mailchimp support they pointed out that this plugin is passing over data using an older version of their API which has been deprecated. She strongly recommended working with an integration that is on version 3.0), or using a MailChimp form. Are there any plans to update this plugin to use the current API version?

    Thanks,
    Mado

    Hi Mado,

The migration to v3 was done almost exactly a year ago.

You can see the entire history of the migration on this ticket:
    https://github.com/yikesinc/yikes-inc-easy-mailchimp-extender/issues/462

However, there is indeed a few things that are still on v2. If you scroll down to the second to last comment you’ll see that info.

Affected features not supported by v3:

    Dashboard widget.
    – ChimpChatter: How many new subscribers, etc.

    Account details
    – Avatar
    – Company Name
    – Etc Meta Data

Leading up to v3 MailChimp said they would migrate all endpoints to v3. That didn’t actually happen. We decided to keep these handful of features on v2 since MailChimp said they were stopping support, but not getting rid of these endpoints.

Every once in awhile I check in on these and see if they got migrated.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

    Thank you,
    -Tracy

So are you saying that the support person was misinterpreting what she saw? That the features of the plugin that I actually use are on v3?

The support person may have seen the calls to v2 and didn’t have time to dig into the code and see exactly what was using v2 vs. v3.

All of the features that use v2 are supplementary information that some site admins may find handy, but does not affect the major functions of the plugin which is importing list data, building forms and subscribing site visitors to your lists with those forms.

If MailChimp dropped all support for v2 today it would not “break” major plugin functionality. You would lose a dashboard widget and a few other informational things.

    Hi @madeaux

As of the newest version of the plugin released today, all functionality is on version 3.0 of the MailChimp API and 2.0 is no longer supported at all.

You can read all the details on Github:

    Thank you!
