My users are subscribed to almost all categories – but not one.
However, on a new post with just that category, an email alert is being sent to all users even though they are not subscribed to the category.
    Any ideas?

We can test some of the plugin logic if you are happy editing code. That might help isolate where the issue is coming from.

Are you using any custom post types or taxonomies?

I have another much simpler site that also has Subscribe2 and also has a test site. I have done tests there and it looks like it is working as it should.
That site is on PHP7.3.6, whereas the problem site was on PHP7.1. I have changed the problem site to PHP7.3 and the problem remains.

The site has BuddyPress and bbPress, so there are, presumably, extra post types although I did disable them both at one state of testing.

Happy to work with you on testing the code. Might it be better to be in direct email contact so we could exchange attachments etc. and avoid this tread getting very long?

I’ve used the form, hopefully you have an email from me now – your form doesn’t really indicate whether it was successful or not.

Whoops – it seems the ReCaptcha check was falling foul of the site caching, which is only active for non-logged in users such as you.
    Now fixed. Please try again.

Apologies about that and thanks for showing the issue!

@mattyrob Serious question and it is really important that you answer and do not prevaricate. Seriously.

Did you use the contact form for that user’s site to get access to that user’s site? Truthful answers only and don’t ignore this ask. It’s important.

Antipole here… @mattyrob used my contact form so we could establish email contact, which we now have. He does not have access to my site, but I am exchanging details like screenshots which would be difficult in this thread. I am comfortable with the situation. I hope that helps.

Serious answer to your question, absolutely not. I used the form to contact him to share suggestions and collect technical information via the user to try to figure out why he is seeing what he is seeing – for the benefit of other users.

As you can see this is already confirmed by the threads OP.

Thanks both of you for those replies. 👍
