Hi. Er… Sorry for the bad review, didn’t think anyone actually comments on these.

    Site in question:

I see that you removed Jetpack from your site; that’s good, so we can compare with and without Jetpack !

I just ran a speed test on the site:

    https://tools.pingdom.com/#!/zm7Sp/http://jbballaran.com/

As you can, the results aren’t great. The initial response from your server is really slow, and if you sort by lod time, you can see that many of your images also take a long time to transmit. So, it’s not a surprise that adding Jetpack’s features on top of this made the site even slower, since Jetpack adds several css and javascript files for its various functions. If each additional css and js file added an extra half-second load time (which it normally wouldn’t on a server that was functioning normally), well, there you have the problem indeed.

So, at this point, before you try Jetpack again, I suggest looking into other ways to speed up your site. The first step should be talking to your host; they might have some suggestions for you. One thing that would likely have immediate impact is upgrading your PHP version to 7 or 7.1. So, talk to your host, and see what they say!

I have been getting feedback about the site being slow. Was also the reason why I gave Jetpack a try. Thank you for checking up on the site. I’ll ask my host how I can improve its speed and give Jetpack another shot in the future.

My pleasure! If you do try Jetpack again and like it, feel free to change your rating and review! 🙂

I’ll make sure I do. Thanks!
