• I’m fairly new to using WordPress, but I was making a really simple site for a friend for their son’s birthday.

I made a mistake while in the theme editor, upon reseaching it I found the best way to fix the problem of my theme being for lack of a better word damaged.

I deleted the theme, which I should probably mention was the Moesia theme, but upon reinstalling the theme and reloading the home page to my website all there is the even vaguely resembles the Moesia theme is the header/menu. all that remains on the page is a post that I did not make, I’ve looked everywhere and I cannot find anything with regards to my exact problem leading me to create this post.

  • If you made changes directly to the theme files, then your changes were essentially lost when you deleted the old theme. However, you should have retained the content of any posts or pages which you created. When you go to Pages → All Pages from the admin dashboard, you don’t see the page that you created? Or did you add your content by editing the index.php file?

You may want to ask your host if they could roll back your site to a date when you know that theme was OK, most major hosting services do daily backups & can do a restore quite easily.

For future reference, instead of modifying the theme files directly, the suggested procedure is to create a child theme.
