Support » Fixing WordPress » Made a child theme using Twenty Eleven & Fatal Error?!

  • Hello!

I just created a twenty eleven child theme for my wordpress blog. I copied all of the files from twenty eleven and renamed it. After I uploaded the theme, I received an fatal error message and cannot visit my blog or login into wordpress.

    This is the fatal error:

Fatal error: Cannot redeclare twentyeleven_excerpt_length() (previously declared in /home/wlynch3/wesleyeatsphotos.com/wp-content/themes/1stchildtheme/functions.php:361) in /home/wlynch3/wesleyeatsphotos.com/wp-content/themes/twentyeleven/functions.php on line 363

Can anyone please help me? I have no idea what to do to get rid of this error. I have been told by wordpress support to login into my server via FTP (I use dreamhost) and rename the twentyeleven folder. However, because I’m not familiar with FTP, I’ve been solely working on wordpress.org (via my domain) and there is no twentyeleven folder.

    Thank you in advance.
