MAC OS X wp-config.php Problem

  • chipbutty

    @chipbutty

    I’ve searched the forums and gone over everything to figure out why I cannot get a database connection with the wp-config.php file. I have created a database called wordpress and I can access it in the Terminal using the username and pasword that I created for myself. All that info I have put into the wp-config.php file as below, yet I always get the “Error establishing a database connection!” page as response when trying to install WordPress. My wordpress folder is in Library>WebServer>Documents which I assume it is supposed to be as that’s where my HTML docs are.
    // ** MySQL settings ** //
    define(‘DB_NAME’, ‘wordpress’); // The name of the database
    define(‘DB_USER’, ‘tom’); // Your MySQL username
    define(‘DB_PASSWORD’, ‘myblog’); // …and password
    define(‘DB_HOST’, ‘localhost’); // 99% chance you won’t need to change this value
    I’m totally new to php, mysql and wordpress so please be aware when giving me any help. Thanks!
