    I've searched the forums and gone over everything to figure out why I cannot get a database connection with the wp-config.php file. I have created a database called wordpress and I can access it in the Terminal using the username and pasword that I created for myself. All that info I have put into the wp-config.php file as below, yet I always get the "Error establishing a database connection!" page as response when trying to install WordPress. My wordpress folder is in Library>WebServer>Documents which I assume it is supposed to be as that's where my HTML docs are.
    // ** MySQL settings ** //
    define('DB_NAME', 'wordpress'); // The name of the database
    define('DB_USER', 'tom'); // Your MySQL username
    define('DB_PASSWORD', 'myblog'); // ...and password
    define('DB_HOST', 'localhost'); // 99% chance you won't need to change this value
    I'm totally new to php, mysql and wordpress so please be aware when giving me any help. Thanks!

  2. Odd, I'm sorry but I don't have any experience with trying to run a server under X. You may want to ask over at the Apple discussion boards.

    Hey macmanx I found out my problem. I had two versions of mysql on my computer and that was obviously causing the problem. I deleted them both and started again. Thanks for the help.

  4. No problem, I'm glad you got it figured out.
