Support » Plugin: Breadcrumbs Everywhere » Lowercase titles for some breadcrumbs

  • Resolved David Hunt

This plugin is great, it does exactly what I wanted. I just have one teeny niggle: the breadcrumbs display in lowercase for certain pages. For example:

Home / members / David Hunt / messages

Is there any way that “members” and “messages” could instead use the page titles, to say “Members” (or “Members Directory”) and “Messages”?

  • Just been digging around the plugin code and the BP templates a bit. You’ve done a really nice job commenting your code, it’s all very clear, so thanks for that!

It seems that simply applying ucwords() to the relevant variables does what I want. So I’ve copied the breadcrumbs_everywhere() function and added it to my own functions.php (and disabled the plugin).

Perhaps you can add the extra ucwords() if you decide to do an updated version?

Oh, I also added __('You are here: ', 'breadcrumbs') to the beginning of $startpages and $startchain for an added bit of user-friendliness.

I see from the changelog of the latest version that you’ve now added title case. Thanks.

Yes, but didn’t manage to respond in time. 🙂

My thinking was that people would use CSS to format the crumbs (i.e. text-transform: capitalize), but that added an unnecessary step. This was a great suggestion that makes the plugin more seamless. Thank you – I have released an update to include this change. I did leave off the “You are here” text – seems best for people to add that in the same spot where they call the function, rather than in core. Or I could add an admin option in the future.

Many thanks for the kind words, David – I’m so glad you like the plugin!!
