• This morning I went on the site that I created for my brother and noticed that I was getting a 404 for all of the pages. Through some troubleshooting I figured out that if I change the name of the link in the address bar to match the name of the page (ie. the page name is Music (capital) and the link goes to music (lower case)) then the page will display.

    http://honkytonkexperience.com/schedule/ – Does Not Work
    http://honkytonkexperience.com/Schedule/ – Works

If I try to change the permalink in the page settings, it reverts back to lower case.

The page was working fine a few weeks ago, and also, funny, sub pages work fine. ie.
    http://honkytonkexperience.com/about/brad/ – Works Fine but
    http://honkytonkexperience.com/about/ – Does Not

Anyway, thanks for the help. I created the page nearly two years ago and my brother adds the content. I updated WP and all of the plugins this morning.

  • Sounds like something changed on the server recently. Page/Post links should be lowercase.

There was an update to the server. They upgraded to PHP 5 and Mysql 5.

Have you asked them about your issue with sentence-case urls? The permalink casing shouldn’t have changed becuase of the upgrades themselves. In the meantime, try:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.
