Low resolution image displayed in gallery
-
Hi
The SimpLy Gallery plugin is awesome, and I’d like to use it, but I noticed some odd behavior: in some cases it displays low resolution image, making gallery look fuzzy.
I see it most often on mobile phones (e.g. Samsung S22 with Chrome, Opera and Firefox) but I can replicate this on desktop with browser development tools.
I created this test case to demonstrate that issue: http://simplygallery.duckdns.org/2025/01/16/simply-gallery-test/ The first image is fuzzy on some mobile phones, because gallery uses small 300×200 file. When I rotate phone to landscape and then back to portrait, the high resolution image is displayed.
You can see this on screenshots:

I can replicate this on desktop Firefox. I open developer tools (F12), enable “responsive design mode” and set device to S20 with resolution of 360×800. I can see in “network” panel, that only low resolution (300×200) of the image is loaded. High resolution is only loaded when I set width to 394 or more.
This low resolution might not be very visible on desktop, but on the mobile it is pretty obvious.
Also, note that this issue affects last image in gallery depending on “last row mode” setting. If it is set to “align left”, then last image is sharp. If it is set to “justify”, then last image is fuzzy.
Could you please have a look into this?
Cheers!
