  • Hello mnorthie,

Currently, accessing website homepage it is showing 404 page not found.

Check once it is related to some Plugin or may be the Database have data as it is.

Hope you have some recent backup which you can use to retrieve the data in case that is the only option left.

    Thanks.

Is it possible to tell if it is related to a Plugin ?

We have narrowed it down to the issue happening last night.

Not until we know which all plugins are installed on the website and what recent activity has been performed on the website that created this issue.

    Hi Kartiks16,

    Thanks,

Is recent activity accessible through wordpress?

    Hello mnorthie,

Not really unless you have any plugin installed which tracks that.

With recent activity I mean here is, do you remember any WordPress Update have been done, any change in code files or Database has been made.

Feel free to ask for further queries if any.

    Thanks.

Moved to Fixing WordPress, this is not an Everything else WordPress topic.

I’m afraid to ask but do you have a backup of your files and database?

can you login to your webhosting account to get to the area which contains your database (often PHPMYADMIN). see what tables are in your database. look for Posts table.

(if you don’t have a backup copy of database, ask you webhosting support staff if they have a backup copy of database.)

@jdembowski hi, our hosting service has provided us with a backup of our database, should this recover the generic content for our website ?

@contentiskey hi, we are aware of some database tables missing, not sure what the cause is though.

    Hi mnorthie,

I would suggest keeping a complete backup with you which includes both the source and database.

As of now, it is good to know that you have a backup of your Database, try restoring the same and see if the content starts appearing.

Once you restore and your website is running perfectly we can move to the next step on finding what might have caused this issue.

    Thanks.
