Installed Updraft Plus, backed up to server (Yahoo host) and then upgraded to WP 3.8.1. Everything was fine except a few hours later, the entire site http://golightoutdoors.com is unavailable (500 error). Did the same on http://nocoolers.com which is in a subdirectory on the yahoo host server and everything is fine with that site.

What happened? How do I restore the prior build of the site that is backed up?

    Hi,

When I try to look at http://golightoutdoors.com, it's not completely blank, but serves up few lines of JavaScript which look like something to do with advertising...

Anyway, to locate the cause of your problem, the best people to ask are the hosting company. UpdraftPlus doesn't have any hooks into the front end of WordPress (it doesn't need to - backups don't involve the front end), so whatever happened, I don't think I'd be able to tell you.

If you're wanting to restore the site from a backup, then first verify your backup is OK (open the zip files on your PC to make sure they're not corrupt; the database is a gzip file and can be opened in 7-zip (7-zip.org)); then install a fresh WordPress and follow these instructions: http://updraftplus.com/faqs/how-do-i-restore-my-backup-from-a-site-that-is-still-installedrunning/

    Best wishes,
    David
