• I have done something VERY stupid and I really need help. I had a website and to enter the back office I used to just type /admin and it would take me there.

I am in the process of moving my site to Squarespace and decided to repoint my GoDaddy domain to SS. Now that I have done that, I cannot access my old site, which I have not finished using! I still have a lot of data there that I need to use.

How can I get it back? I cannot log-in and find it. I have tried to download WordPress to my computer but it is hellishly complicated and I dont understand how to instal it. Any help would be much appreciated…

Contact the (pre-squarespace) webhosting vendor you were using and ask for assistance to get into the file manager (for images) + get to the database (content from pages and posts).

(Downloading “WordPress” files probably is not what you need.)

    Dear Lisa,
    Thank you for your reply!
I was using WordPress and GoDaddy. Am I contacting WordPress then? Sorry if this is a stupid question I am not entirely sure who was hosting.

Point the DNS servers back to Godaddy’s service. In other words ‘Undo what you have done’!

That should get your site backup and running again.

Else contact GoDaddy support for help from them.

Can you run a WordPress site from that other host? Square Space I think you said. You’ll want to check with them about that question and how to migrate once your site is working again at GoDaddy.

I just called GoDaddy. They said they will restore it (undo what idiotic things I have done) and it should be fixed shortly.

    THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP!!
