Lost the footer by accident (6 posts)

I wanted to change the text in the footer, so I edited text in this part:

    <span class="copyright"><a>"><?php _e( '© Copyright 2012. WordPress, 'squirrel' ); ?></a></span>

[Moderator Note: Please post code or markup snippets between backticks or use the code button. As it stands, your code has been permanently damaged/corrupted by the forum's parser.]

After changing the text, the footer widget and the footer bar at the very bottom with that information is no longer visible on my squirrel theme 1.4 wordpress website: http://nieuw.oldeouwer.info/

Its important that I get it back, what can I do to fix it?

    Thanks,
    Natalja

you're missing a quote on the end of the first part, and there seems to be an extra closing tag.
    <span class="copyright">"><?php _e( '© Copyright 2012. WordPress, 'squirrel' ); ?></span>

    should be:
    <span class="copyright"><?php _e( '&copy; Copyright 2012. WordPress', 'squirrel' ); ?></span>

replace footer.php with a new copy of footer.php from a fresh download of your theme; http://wordpress.org/extend/themes/squirrel

So I managed to get the footer back, and I copied it from the fresh download just to be sure, but where did the dotted line go on the third footer widget between "Activiteiten" and the paragraph like in the other two footer widgets?
