    Uh-oh.

    First time word-presser here, though I’ve been working on my site for a few months now (a few static pages for my research group). Had a child theme running off of 2011, made a whole lot of edits to it (learned how to code in css, woo). I was locally hosting, had MAMP running, all was good. Then I decided that I wanted to make the site visible to others in my network, so I turned on web sharing on my iMac and moved all my wordpress and content files from my desktop (where MAMP/wordpress had been looking for them) to my ‘Sites’ folder. Through the wordpress interface I changed the WP_home and WP-siteurl to my Sites folder, and changed MAMP’s Apache Document Root to my Sites folder.

    Now I can’t figure out how to access my site. I now know that there are lot of other steps necessary when making a move like this. How can I un-do what I’ve done? I can’t access wordpress to change the home/site URL. I tried putting ‘define(‘WP_HOME’,’http://localhost:8888/mysite/’);
    define(‘WP_SITEURL’,’http://localhost:8888/mysite/’);’ into the wp-config file, but that didn’t work either. HELP!

    Thanks.

    Do you have a recent/latest backup?

    I don’t believe so– I never explicitly backed the site up (didn’t realize that was a necessary step, oops)… but since I was hosting it locally, don’t I have all the files?

    yeah, if you have all the files, just upload it back then.. but then you will lose some of your unsaved files though
