# lost navigation

 * I have lost all navigation on my site
    [http://www.friendsoftemagami.org](http://www.friendsoftemagami.org)
 * I think the problem started when I tried to add some google web stats to my index.
   php at the end of the file just above the /body tag.
 * This gave my site a 404 error so I removed my edit. All returned and seemed to
   be normal until I discovered that the links do not work. The nav bar indicates
   a new page but it refreshed the index.php
 * One thought is that the index.pxp has lost reference to the associated database.
 * Any help well appreciated, as I am lost.
 * Alex

 * Could be as simple as updating your permalinks:
    [Administration](http://codex.wordpress.org/Administration_Panels)
   > [Options](http://codex.wordpress.org/Administration_Panels#Permalinks) > [Permalinks](http://codex.wordpress.org/Permalinks_Options_SubPanel)
 * Also, if that doesn’t fix it, deactivate any new plugins you’ve activated.

 * Thanks but that did not resolve the issue. No resent plug ins to remove.
 * I should also note that besides the lost links to the calendar, archies and post
   and pages, I cannot post new information to the site.

 * I’m assuming the index.php file you changed was wp-content/themes/your-theme-
   whatever-it-is/index.php?

 * No it was the index.php in the root of [http://www.friendsoftemagami.org](http://www.friendsoftemagami.org)–
   a subdirectory of [http://www.nastawgan.ca](http://www.nastawgan.ca)

 * So that file should be the same as if you download the index file from the WordPress
   distribution (link at top of this page) and use that.

 * he means, download wordpress and take the original index.php from the original
   files and copy it back, overwriting the one you changed.

 * This did not work for me.
    There are a number of index.php files within the structure
   of my chosen theme.
 * when exchanging, one gave a blank page, two others gave coded line errors.

 * below is the content of my index.php (from the root directory of my domain)
 * [Moderated: Too much code. Please consider placing the code in a text file on
   your site with a link here -or- use a pastebin service such as [http://wordpress.pastebin.ca](http://wordpress.pastebin.ca).
   Thanks!]

 * What does this mean?
 * Fatal error: Call to undefined function: get_header() in /mnt/w0011/d10/s04/b0267a7e/
   www/friendsoftemagami.org/index.php on line 2

 * Problem resolved.
 * Issue was with finding the proper index.php and then editing the the directory
   structure.
 * Thanks too all that helped
