I was working on my not yet public wordpress website and somehow lost the files. they wouldn’t come up as they did before and now I can’t find them.

    Where do I look?

Under your pillow, maybe? But seriously. No one can help unless you provide more info. What are you running? Localhost? MAMP? XAMPP? What web host?

When I log into wordpress, they can’t find my files which were created previously.
What’s confusing me is I had a justhost account based on their site builder, which they apparently got rid of, forcing me into wordpress. So I have this old html type site and don’t know how to replace it with the wordpress, plus my created files disappeared when I did attempt this.

Maybe I just need to completely start over, by first deleting my old stuff. That’s a question.

Who is “they”? What “site builder”? What were your “created files”?

I’ve given up. I went back and reinstalled word press in place of my old site. It is now a blank site, except for the sample.
Apparently I lost my word press work, when I tried to replace my existing home page with it.
    Thanks for trying.

You can install wordpress in a subfolder like /wordpress/ and keep your html site up in the meantime.

I think I lost my files while changing to another server. Please help.

@kingdenis – please start your own thread – here:

You also need to explain more details – as is, no one has any idea what happened.
