Hi – we tried to update from 5.2.6 to 5.2.9 but it failed presumably because the server timed out. Then tried to do it manually: deactivated EM, placed updated folder via FTP, reactivated EM, but then got a server error – website not available – and couldn’t access the wp-admin dash.

Restored all WP files (not db) via hosts restore feature.

Site and dash came back, but now the link that lists the Events is missing. All the other (Event tags, Event categories, Recurring Events, Booking, Settings & Help) are still visible.

Events are showing on the site: oudelibertas.co.za

    Please help. Thanks in advance.

  • hi,

did you check your events page at Setting > Pages > Event List/Archives? also, did you mean the Event Links or the events listing page?

Hi agelonwl – thanks for your reply. It really is appreciated.

Yes I checked Settings > Pages > Event List/Archives, and all the settings look good to me.

I was referring to the Event and Add Event links within WP Dash – they were missing. I say ‘were’ because I finally figured out what was wrong and fixed it.

The problem was that some of the privileges under Event > Settings > User Capabilities were lost. In particularly those under the Event Capabilities. Once I had re-checked the boxes, the Event and Add Event options became available again.

I have no idea why these settings were lost.

I still can’t update EM though.

    Thanks.

This might be related to your server or something similar. EM is updating fine…

Alternatively, try manually updating it either by deleting the plugin and uploading the zip file via admin, or directly upload it using FTP.

Also, make sure the plugin is active 🙂

Hi Marcus – if a delete the EM plugin will the current events be lost?? If yes – that’s not an option for me.

You say make sure the plugin is active – does that mean while doing the manual update as you suggest? I usually inactivate plugins before I manually update.

    Thanks.

information will only be deleted if you click ‘uninstall’ and you’ll get a warning / confirmation page about that.

I just meant make sure you click ‘activate’ on the plugin i.e. it shows up in your list of active plugins. When doing a manual update, since you have to delete the plugin first, you’ll need to activate it again.
