I’ve been using your plugin without issues, but today I started experiencing a host of problems, including extended load times (90 seconds), 504/502 errors, and a lost connection message (for about 90 seconds each time) when editing pages. My host determined it was your plugin, so I disabled it and the problems stopped. Perhaps related to a recent plugin update?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Hello @boywithk9,

I’m very sorry about this issue.

Are you able to get information from the hosting provider what was an exact error in logs that determined that was Custom Sidebars?
Can you also tell me what is PHP version of your site, max_execution_time and memory_limit?
Also how many custom sidebars was before this issue occurred?

    kind regards,
    Kasia

Here’s the information from my host, which they got by creating a “new relic.”

There are multiple requests to admin-ajax.php taking 20-80 seconds to complete.

The issue seems related to CustomSidebars? Does that ring a bell? In the screenshot below, we can see the calls being made that are totally up to 80 seconds of load time.

Looking at the plugins/themes data, it does look like custom-sidebars plugin is causing extended load time.

The max_execution_ time is 300 and the memory_limit is 256M.

I had not changed anything in the sidebars for a while. There were probably 4 or 5 custom sidebars, each containing one shortcode from the Post Snippets snippet shortcode tool. The contents of the snippets were like this:

    </div>

I’ve re-enabled the plugin, and now it’s working. Not sure if it was a conflict with a different plugin, which was updated in the meantime.

Correction, eventually it stopped working again.

    Hello @boywithk9 ,

I will pass this to the developer to check if they can figure out what could be a reason for this issue.

    kind regards,
    Kasia
