Support » Fixing WordPress » Lost access to wp-admin and all site pages

Looking for help recovering my site access after I was in looking at how to redirect newly developed site to main address (to replace existing non-WordPress site). When in the WordPress dashboard I think I may have inadvertently changed the first setting mentioned at the beginning of the following article:

1(The “Home” setting is the address you want people to type in their browser to reach your WordPress blog.)
2 (The “Site URL” setting is the address where your WordPress core files reside.)

I now cannot access the dashboard at, nor any of the pages on the site. Sidebars, header, menus and other plugins do show up when entering the URL. Tried the advice in previously mentioned support thread. No luck. Should I be seeing the page files when viewing the file structure on server?

Any advice would be most appreciated.

  • JumboClicks,

Thanks for your response. The three code lines mentioned in the section titled “If you have accidentally changed your WordPress site URL” were added to wp-login as suggested and nothing seemed to change at first. Somewhat later the home page started loading correctly. I can’t say for certain if it was that change that did it.

I still am not able to access any other pages called up by menus and, more importantly, still cannot access site controls at /wp-admin. Attempts to get to login page bring up a blank white browser window.

Site is, and visitors are currently redirected to Remaining pages should be available with menu links or at …/wp/page name, but are not.

    Appreciate any advice.

Update: Still having access issues. Looking for a bit of advice to get us up and running.

We had this site up and running, but then back at the time of my first post I must have inadvertently made changes in the admin dashboard. Something like described in the top section of this WP forum post: I’ve tried the fixes described in the article with limited success.

Home and site URL have been changed to URL/wp in host cPanel settings.

Home page now comes up fine, with plugins functioning and menu items that call PDFs or external links working. But other pages do not load, returning the following error: “The requested URL /index.php was not found on this server.” The worst is that attempts to log on to admin dashboard still come up empty – literally – returning a blank white page. Searches on WordPress forums, while uncovering numerous similar errors have not revealed a workable solution.

    Any advice is most appreciated.
