Support » Fixing WordPress » Looks like no css?

  • Hi There, I have been using wordpress for a couple of years now and I feel quit confident in what I’am doing. I just encounter a strange problem wich I can’t seem te resolve. Maybe some of you now what is happening.

I just installed a brand new version of Worpress on a LAMP wich I created for the company I work for. It’s supposed to become a sort of knowledge base / Weblog for employees in the company, nothing big or hefty.

Show I set up my server (apache2, mysql, php5), installed WP. The default theme is on display and I inputted no content or changed any scripts or files. On the server everything looks good and works like a charm.

When I login from a remote computer, that is where users work on, I get to the WP-index but there is no CSS. The blog looks like pure html.
When I try to login from a remote computer, it can’t find the page (./wp-admin).

Hope anyone has any ideas on where to check or what to try…

Thanks in advance for helping me out!

you installed it using either localhost OR a non-routable IP for the URL settings..

dont use reserved IPs (10.10 IPs, etc..) or localhost, and expect them to work from the Internet. Thats not how things work.

I did install WP on localhost, but it has a all the IP and DNS info I got from our network administrator.

Do you mean I have to correct my apache2 server? Like IP and port forwarding?

Well the apache server is up and running, I can contact it from a remote workstation, it has the correct DNS settings, a nice static IP, I get to see the HTML but no CSS, anybody else?

I already told you what you have done wrong. You can view your source to confirm what I am saying. LOOK at the url thats pointing to your stylesheet. what is it..?

    <link rel=”stylesheet” href=”” type=”text/css”

    thats an intranet page.. right?

what happens when you load this in your browser?

It wont work for me, because its internal.

PS: thats not what I expected to see, so we’ll see where this goes. I may be wrong about what I thought was the cause.

Thanks, and yes it eventually becomes an intranet witch should be accesible from home, if you login to the network.

If I type the url in my adress bar it won’t find anything and heads down the google search way to help the poor user in need….

I think it must have something to do with the firewall setup here, the only thing that’s weird is that it finds the server and fetches the html…
