    Good day!

Newbie here, I moved from years of use of Joomla to WordPress because I was told that it’s much more user friendly, especially for someone like me: A relatively a-technical person.

I just started out my new website, but mean to move the old ones to WordPress as well, once I figured out how everything works.

Question though is: Why does /lifetolegend work, but / not? I want the last one to work, the first one I don’t really care about. I’m assuming I need to address this issue in my Direct Admin backend, but I’m not sure how.

Thanks so much for your time!!

You will see me around here quite often, but as a beginner WordPress user: Do you have some golden nuggets for me to make thinks easier?

For perspective: lifetolegend will be a combination of a blog, an archive (modified articles from blog posts) and in time a forum. The website is dedicated to nature, fictional creatures and a little bit of science, in an effort to create a huge archive that will help artists and writers in their storytelling. But this archive will also be very useful to anyone that’s curious about what legends exist in this world. So, the main audience is anyone that has a storytelling component in their work or hobby, the secondary audience is anyone that’s curious about any of the subjects that’s discussed.

Problem solved. I uninstalled wordpress and installed it again. Instead of having it installed in a map that’s called lifetolegend, I just installed it without modifying the path. Hoping this helps others out as well. I’m not sure if there are any other solutions for websites that are further developed.

In that situation, you could change the site address and move the WordPress files to the proper location. See: Changing the site URL.

You could also decide to keep the WordPress files in the sub-directory, but configure WordPress to serve the site under the root domain. See Giving WordPress its own directory.
