Looking for support regarding the wp.org profiles

  • I recently set up a profile on wp.org, on behalf of the company I work for so we can start to upload some of the internal wordpress plugins we regularly use for our client work. However in hindsight when registering, I should not have used a space in the username, as now the profile slug/link that has been generated for us, seems to be a bit broken.

    The user profile link that is generated on the http://profiles.wordpress.org/users page is as follows:


    Which, at the time of writing this, is a broken link.

    However, elsewhere within the wp.org site ( I cant remember where I clicked this link) I found another link that sent me to the following URL:


    Which, from a purely aesthetic p.o.v, is not ideal..

    Could I just get this account deleted? and the email address associated to it free’d up so I can re-register with a more applicable, and supported username (soapmedia)? I have looked for a way to delete the account by myself, but have yet to find anything.

    Any help greatly appreciated

    ooh excellent, if you can, i assume some point of that would involve changing the username? If so, could you just change it to ‘soapmedia’.

    Usernames cannot be changed. If you want to create a new profile with the new username and abandon the old one, then go ahead and do that.

    You can change the email on the old account to something else, to allow you to reregister it with the new username.

    I tried that yesterday, i changed the email of the account over to a fellow colleague in the office so i could register a new account under my email address, but now it seems BOTH of our email addresses are non-unique and we cant use them egain.

    This is proving to be a pretty stressful venture just to register a working account.

    Possible solutions i can see are:

    1) Delete this account, unregister the email addresses, go back to the begining, and i will start this whole processes again?

    2) Change the slug/post_name on our profile so it actually works?

    3) Unregister the address matt (at) soapmedia (dot) co (dot) uk so i can register a new account, and abandon the old one?



    Can’t do #2 apparently (darn, I’d hoped…)

    #1 is possible, but before we do that … Let’s try #4

    Try registering with the email MATT (yes, in caps).
