Looking for a specific job board pluggin

I’m still really new to WordPress, but I’ve been trying to research a pluggin that will do what I’m looking for. I’m looking for a really customizable job board type pluggin. Now, I’ve tried several free options, along with messaging developers about their paid themes and such. So far, I can’t find one that will do what I’m looking for, but I feel like there’s one out there…somewhere.

All the ones I’m seeing require you to fill out form sections A, B, C, D, and E. Sometimes you can change the title of each section, but the customization always seems some what limited. What I’m looking to do, is to take that. But only show, and make people fill out section say, A, B, and D. Then change the text it shows, so I can ask my own questions, instead of being limited to what it’s already asking.

Also, I’m looking for one that’s set up for OTHER people to make the job postings. Then users can respond to it (or message the person directly). NOT one where I need to manually enter in each job.

This forum is dedicated to WordPress sites (the core CMS), not plugins, so we can’t make any direct recommendations. But hopefully the following info can help in your search.

There should be job board plugins that allow you to set up users who could manage their own listings, similar to what you describe. And all but the most basic jobs plugins should offer some level of applicant questionnaire customization. In many cases, it should be possible for you to customize the form fields and data types.

If you’ve scoured the plugins directory and haven’t found a good match, you may want to look deeper into premium/paid plugin options. Try searching the web for key terms like “wordpress job board” and investigate what comes up.

Thanks for the response. So far, I’ve tried multiple of the free pluggins. Along with sending messages to the developers of a few premium ones, in order to see if they’d work for what I need. I’m trying to avoid buying one, only to find out it doesn’t do what I need. It seems like the only solution is to basically keep looking at pluggins, and researching them individually. I was just hoping for someone to be able to suggest one that worked for them, in order to help narrow down my search.

I can appreciate your concern about wanting to “try before you buy”. Perhaps look for plugins that have online demos available. Serious plugin authors will want to ensure you are satisfied with the functionality.

And as good as our forums are here at WordPress.org, don’t overlook other WordPress informational sites that often compile lists of plugins they’ve reviewed directly. I’ve found such lists to be useful in narrowing the field, as well as discovering options I wasn’t aware of.
