 * Hi there. I’m developing a wordpress website to be used as a company Intranet.
   Things have gone well so far but I’ve noticed that my specific needs in a notifications
   plugin are eluding me.
 * We need something very similar to what Google uses, where there’s a notification
   icon, you click it and a dropdown box with all the notifications shows up. The
   notifications we need will pop up when someone posts to a category you are a 
   member of. In this instance, the categories are the various departments, so we
   want to have it set so that a user will be notified when there is a message sent
   to their specific department, but users in other departments wont be notified.
 * The users are all handled by UltimateMember, and while it DOES have its own notifications
   extension, it is a paid plugin and the screenshots/description show that it doesnt
   cover posts or categories, so it doesnt even do what we want it to do in the 
   first place.
 * Does anyone know where I could find a plugin or widget to do this specifically,
   because I’ve had no luck so far.
 * On a side note – the plugin should not send emails (the point of the intranet
   is to reduce our email spam) and it shouldnt be a push message, as we don’t want
   to annoy people. We simply want a purely internal notifications system.
