The vast majority of directories on the web are for ONE city only and we see this with GeoDirectory also, because of this we do not add the location functionality to the core product so that it can be leaner and only be added by users who need/want it.
In your case if you need a country wide or even global directory then we sell the location manager. GD is setup in such a way that you can easily start in one city and then later add the location manager to expand.
Our small team from around the world have been building directory software for over 10 years, we provide everything to make the most common directory type on the internet for FREE! Unfortunately we do have to charge for more specialized functionality and support to be able to keep going.

Browsing your profile i found it ironic you specialize in “town council” websites… For single locations 🙂

I’m sorry you feel it harsh but that being said I stand by my rating. The reason for this I feel is further strengthened by the fact you seem unable to take the feedback gracefully and take it into consideration.
Whilst I thank you for taking the time to look into my profile, and I do have some Town Council website clients, I also have many others and am currently looking for a solution for a small non profit organisation which needs a directory for the whole of the UK. Even the town councils are likely to require more than the 1 city as many actually expand into the outer areas.
You are very argumentative to all your bad reviews instead of embracing them and seeing how you could improve. Asking some simple questions and guiding people would get a much better response than arguing.
I downloaded this from your website and did not feel it was obvious that it was limited to 1 town until after trying to download setup and use it resulting in wasted time for me. Additionally comparing yourself to woo commerce is false advertising, I feel WooCommerce can be used without plugins, your model almost forces the use of plugins to be useful. That is my opinion

I very much appreciate the continued responses and hopefully we can both learn something from this.
We provide free and opensource software used on over 120k websites, this is thousands of hours of work from our team which is just over 10 people, all released for free. The vast majority of feedback is positive but when we receive anything less than a 5* review it feels like a blow. It can especially feel like a blow when the thing or things the feedback mention are wrong or maybe just down to not reading something we feel we have tried to make users aware of.
Taking this review as an example, i do feel its harsh to be marked down for something we clearly state. This being said maybe you are the perfect user to give feedback on the subject of your review? The very first feature listed on our wp.org listing states “based on a single location”… On our website our very first feature banner on our homepage states “single-location business directory (Multi Locations add-on avail.)”. How do you suggest we make it more clear?
As i mentioned before the vast majority of directories made are for one city only, so we provide a FREE solution for the majority of people and charge extra for features the minority may use. As i’m sure you can appreciate we do have to charge for some functionality as do WooCommerce or any plugin with a commercial stance.

If you feel GD is not useful to you because it does not have multilocations out the box then that is your opinion but it does not apply to the majority of users. I would be interested to hear what functionality you feel should be included in out free version and what should be sold to enable the project to stay alive.

may I ask you to point out where you found that we are claiming to be the “WooCommerce” of directories exactly?
I don’t recall ever claiming something as bold, but you keep repeating it, so you must have read it somewhere and I’d like to rectify that.

Certainly tomorrow we will all have to have lunch and if you have already bought your lunch and dinner congratulations, one hour the food supply runs out and we still want to live the magic of life doing much more than eating so keep charging it is important to be paid for the work.
