Hi Anders,
thanks for feedback! You made me update the installation instructions right now (will be visible with the next update), thanks!
When I visit your site, Vimeo videos almost instantly start to play. It depends on your internet connection, I assume.
It takes longer since the iFrame is only loaded after the user has clicked the thumbnail. That’s the sense of this plugin. Else the iFrame will be loaded when the user has not yet clicked the thumbnail, but that increases your page load time.
So you have to decide what’s more important to you. However, as mentioned above, the Vimeo videos load for me as expected – fast.
Best regards,
Kevin
PS: Would love to see you as a premium customer 🙂
Thanks Kevin for the quick feedback. It sounds promising/good if it’s only with my connection 🙂 (although my connection is generally fast), I will need to check it from some more places before I can decide for certain which option works best for me. Glad you are updating your instructions. It’s a cool plugin, well done!
I’ll check out what works best for me and consider the premium.
Thanks
Anders
Actually the initial frame / the Vimeo interface loads very fast, it’s the actual “playback” that takes me 6-7 seconds. Would that mean anything? (i.e. the first frame/image shows in the video but the playbar/video does not move until much later (on my computer).
P.S. This is what happens after I press the plugin “play” icon.
This does even more approve that the issue is caused by your connection. Have you tried another Vimeo video that has a resolution with lower quality? The larger the video the longer it takes to buffer, thus start to play.
I have discovered that Firefox has a slow delay after click on Play. So it may be the browser causing the issue. I have also read that it may be some of the plugins in firefox that cause the delay as well. Hope that helps 🙂
