 * Testing this plugin out and am disappointed by the optimization time. I compared
two posts with the plugin turned on versus the same posts with the plugin turned
   off.
 * The first post with a 135kb image took 12 seconds to go through with the plugin
off and 54 seconds with the plugin turned on. The image was only reduced to 129kb.
 * The second post with a 1.1mb image took 61 seconds to go through with the plugin
on and only reduced the image size to 1007kb. With the plugin turned off the
post took 8 seconds to go through.

 * What kind of images are these? PNG, JPG, or GIF? It is different for every image
type, so what you’ve said so far isn’t enough information to be able to offer
   any tips or advice.

 * Tried both PNG and JPEG. The above figures were for PNG

 * JPGs should generally not take more than 5 seconds unless your server is really
   slow, or you’re getting throttled.
 * PNGs are always slower, but that can vary depending on the size of the PNG, and
the optimization levels you are using. If you’re getting throttled, PNGs will
   get even worse.
 * At any rate, a 1MB PNG is just silly, unless it is some sort of huge infographic.
Even then, I would disable the PNG tools, and turn on PNGtoJPG conversion just
to see how small that image can get. You can always revert it back to the PNG
if you aren’t satisfied with the JPG quality.
 * That kind of time frame is totally normal for a 1MB PNG. The smaller one seems
a little slow, but filesize isn’t the only factor in PNG optimization. The actual
PNG data can vary greatly, and sometimes make a 200kb PNG take longer than a
400kb PNG. Generally, it is exponential as the file size increases, but not always.
 * Hope that all helps to make sense of things, and helps you know what to expect.
