  • Facebook PHP API v3.2.2 has a set setExtendedAccessToken method if that helps.

Thanks for the research Lukasz – will hopefully get to that soon. If you’re capable and have time, I’d love a pull request . . .

Checking out the updated Facebook PHP API, though of course they don’t provide a very convenient way to tell what version you are using or what has changed. 😉

Seems like this exchange – of the short term token for the longer term one, should happen right when the user grants a new long lived token.

I wonder if it is also possible to extend the token indefinitely this way, exchanging the token for a new one as its expiration nears?

I can’t seem to get the setExtendedAccessToken() to do what I expect – will need to regroup later and try just using the exchange method

Ok, so I’ve made some progress here – will post a 2.6 version shortly.

Note that 2.6 (and this fix) requires the ability to use @file_get_contents – using fopen() wrappers.

This is because the Facebook oauth exchange token thing doesn’t seem to work through the API so I need to call it directly.

I’ll keep working on whether there is a way to use the Facebook API and its setExtendedAccessToken() though apparently that can only be successfully called once every 24 hrs, which complicates things.

Thank you for the quick response… installing the update now.

    Thank you again!
