@cikorka – Appreciate the kind words.

Those are telling WordPress to do its thing (log user out via the wp-login.php page), and then afterwards redirect_to the url you entered.

But since a URL has special characters, and we are inserting a URL into another URL, we have to encode the normal characters so the browser doesn’t interpret them as part of the page url, but rather as a parameter that gets passed to the page.

For example adding a : anywhere but the beginning of a url would likely break it, so it gets encoded as %3A.

Its totally normal and you will see the same thing on any WordPress login/logout link. In fact, those are all part of WordPress core’s functionality (the redirect_to and such), we are just utilizing them in a unique way that wasn’t there before.

    Hope that helps.

    Hello Daniel,

thank you so much for your reply and explanation. It makes sense. The redirect does not work, though and I falsly thought this was the culprit. The menu item logs the user out OK, but then redirects to the home page, not the custom URL. It is a Woocommerce page.

    I kindly ask for advise.

    Hey @cikorka,

We’re not able to reproduce what you’re seeing.

If you watch this short screencast, you’ll see that we can set our User Menus Logout menu item to redirect to our Woo Shop page.

Would you mind trying the following?

    1) Deactivate all of your plugins except for User Menus.

    2) Change your Logout menu item to redirect to another custom URL like your About or Contact page for example.

    3) Retest. If that works OK, reactivate WooCommerce and change the logout redirect to your Shop page (or another Woo page).

    4) Retest with your Woo page redirect.

If you’re still seeing the issue, please submit a help request using this link.

@cikorka – If you have other plugins that also add customized login functionality such as that custom login page, it is possible their own restrictions auto redirect and override our redirects. This is possible because WP has a filter on that URL before the redirect and any other plugin can modify it along the way.
