Login with email and password instead of username

  • I am looking for the same thing.

I would like users to provide a username and password when they sign up instead of making up a username.

I haven’t looked into the code yet, but searching the site has turned up no information.

Would this be as simple as modifying something in wp-login.php to make the email address be written to the DB as the email address AND the username?

I would like even more! I would like users to provide their name and address as well as their e-mail so that our administration can verify that they are paid-up members of our Association before they are given a password to log in to our members’ section. The admin effort should be minimal so they only have to say “yes” or “no”. In the former case the entry to the database should be automatic.
