Support » Fixing WordPress » Login Problems & 403 errors

  • I installed the latest build of WordPress yesterday. The installation was perfect, but I have one slight problem with the site. When I try to log in, I get a 403 error page. This only happens though if I enter the correct password. If I enter the wrong password than I get the incorrect password text pop up.
The Interesting part is that after entering the correct username / password and getting the 403 error, I can go to the index page and edit a post, which gives me access to the admin menu meaning that I am logged in.
Is there any way that I can make the login function normally without any errors.
Thanks in advance for replies / help

    403 is a permissions issue.
    Check the files are correctly chmod’d to 755 / 766 ?

Thanks for the quick reply. Do all files need to have full read/write/execute permisions as thats what they have at the moment?
    Thanks!

My wp folder is 755, files within are a mix of 755 / 666 / 777, though the 777 I think is just my images folder…

Hmmm, okay I will have a look at everything when I get home. Its all a little confusing as I have never installed anything like this before. Thanks for your help so far. I might try re-uploading it with a different FTP package as that seemed to be why I couldnt install it 100% the first time round. Maybe the correct permisions will copy accross or something! thanks.
