 * Hello,
 * My site url is: [http://www.singingafterforty.com/](http://www.singingafterforty.com/)
 * When I try to log in to the admin area, I get this message:
    Fatal error: Call
   to undefined function is_rtl() in /home/trusty/public_html/singingafterforty.
   com/wp-includes/general-template.php on line 2102
 * I upgraded to 3.3.1 just before this happened. It could also be a problem with
   Popup Domination, which I have been using.
 * Any suggestions for a newbie?
    I have quite a large site and no problems until
   now. Thus little experience with FTP etc.

    – switching to the Twenty Eleven theme by renaming your current theme’s
   folder in wp-content/themes and adding “-old” to the end of the folder name using
   [FTP](http://codex.wordpress.org/FTP_Clients) or whatever file management application
   your host provides.
 * – [resetting the plugins folder](http://codex.wordpress.org/FAQ_Troubleshooting#How_to_deactivate_all_plugins_when_not_able_to_access_the_administrative_menus.3F)
   by FTP or phpMyAdmin.
 * – re-uploading all files & folders – **except** the wp-content folder – from 
   a **fresh** download of WordPress.
 * – re-running the upgrade via wp-admin/upgrade.php

 * Sounds like a borked upgrade. Do a manual reinstall of WordPress (following [@esmi](https://wordpress.org/support/users/esmi/)’
   s instructions above).

   question: If I do a manual re-install, do I lose the content that is on there
   now?

 * No – your content is held in your database but, to be on the safe side, we always
   advise site owners to backup their database before carrying out any WordPress
   upgrade.
