# Login nightmare

 * When I attempted to change the site url (all files in root/wordpress) to be the
   primary url following WP codex directions, everything went crazy. I can see the
   WP site on my iPad (kennethwishnia.com/wordpress) but can’t’ log in. On the desktop,
   the WP site has no styling and I cannot login there either. I need real emergency
   help!

 * If you click on the link it results in a 404 error. That means as far as the 
   browser is concerned, it is not there.
 * Have you tried:
    – deactivating all plugins (yes, all) to see if this resolves
   the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find
   the problematic plugin(s).If you can’t get into your admin dashboard, try resetting
   the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin
   can still cause problems. – switching to the Twenty Eleven theme to rule out 
   any theme-specific problems.

 * I can’t log in! I plan to try the uninstall plugins if the general settings route(
   where U=I believe I screwed up) doesn’t work.
 * I used this info to edit the wp-config.php file
 * And I changed the url in settings/general

 * I have a similar problem with my site not logging in automatically after I changed
   the url. I found that I could login via /wp-login, but not via /wp-admin. Have
   you tried that ?

 * Thanks for the tip. I’ll keep it in mind. I redid the site and have almost finished.
   
   Now I need to know how to make it the primary url with no ensuing nightmares.

 * I have eventually sorted out my problems by one-time editing the functions.php
