    Hi there,

I’m currently stuck in a login loop. Not sure I changed anything prior to it locking me out but obviously must have done something!

I have tried all of the steps on the fixing login article here: https://wordpress.org/support/article/login-trouble/

Kind of running out of options. Hoping someone can lend me a hand.

Using cPanel with PHP version 7.3.6 and phpMyAdmin version 4.9.4.

    I’m of intermediate level.

    Thanks,
    Jack

What do you mean by a login loop?

If the login page keeps refreshing, enter your credentials.
Then (as soon as the login screen refreshes) manually type https://example.com/wp-admin/ (replace example.com with your own domain name) into your browser address bar and hit Enter.
    What happens?

I enter my login details correctly – I’ve also done the phpMyAdmin change password method – and hit Log In. That all seemingly works correctly but then goes back to the login page.

If I then go to /wp-admin it just takes me back to the login page.

No matter what I do it always takes me to the following web address: http://roundtablepost.co.uk/wp-login.php?redirect_to=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.roundtablepost.co.uk%2Fwp-admin%2F&reauth=1

    Hallo @dalia78 🙂

Your issues are most likely different from the Original Poster (OP)’s issue.

You can try renaming your plugin folder via File Manager (or equivalent) on your hosting panel.

Thank you Carike, just to repeat though I have gone through everyone option on this link one-by-one: https://wordpress.org/support/article/login-trouble/

I’ve tried both pluginsXX and themesXX and both at the same time. I’ve tried editing phpMyAdmin as well as replacing the /wp-login file with a brand new one. The whole list.

Does anyone have any tips for tracking this down via debugging techniques? It’s obviously a corrupt file somewhere but I’m not sure how to track it down.

I seem to remember the last change I made was to changes the ‘header’ menu in the Formota theme from option 1 to option 4 and hit publish. Looking at my homepage it seems to still be on option-1 so maybe something got stuck there? Disabling the theme by changing ‘themes’ to ‘themesXX’ didn’t seem to work – is there another file or folder I could/should be renaming or changing? It could just be a coincidence that change was the issue or it could have already logged me out and hence not made the change. I’m unsure.

Thanks for the responses so far.

Okay… So nothing has changed overnight and I can now login this morning.

Not really sure what information I can provide for others who might be having the same experience except to go through the login-trouble article.
