  • Hello, I am getting this error when I try to login and I have not changed anything.
    Warning: main(blog.header.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/blackkat/public_html/wp-admin/index.php on line 2
    Fatal error: main(): Failed opening required ‘blog.header.php’ (include_path=’.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php’) in /home/blackkat/public_html/wp-admin/index.php on line 2
    And here are the lines?
    /* Don’t remove these lines. */
    $blog = 1;
    <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC “-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN” “”>
    <html xmlns=””>
    Also, if you were too recommend a book or something to a first time php user so that they can learn how this stuff works, what would you recomend?
    I am very new to this and becoming quickly frustrated with errors appearing when I have not done anything.
    Thank you well in advance for any help anyone gives me.

  • Have you recently upgraded? The error is referring to blog.header.php which is from an earlier version of WP and your require_once statement is calling in wp-blog-header.php, which was introduced in WP 1.0.

    I was upgraded yesterday. My host did it so I have no clue.
    What do I need to do? Please help.
    Thank you.

    Are you trying to login at It sound like your host didn’t upgrade all of the files.
    blog.header.php should not be called from any of the new files.
    P.S. Nice error page! 😉

    No, I knew which page you meant. 🙂
    So look for all blog.header.php things.
    I can talk to them again and see if they can help but they are the one who suggested I come here.
    I will figure it out eventually or just shut it down.
    Thanks. 🙁

    Have you searched your files for “blog.header.php”?

    Post back with which files you found it in and hopefully someone can track down the problem from there.

    I looked everywhere and could not find it. Thank you very much for your help but I’m just going to get rid of wp. It really is not meant for newbies to php. It is not something that I personally feel I can learn enough about to manage it.
    Thank you for your help, it was very much appreciated.
