• Hi, there.

I am very new to this and not tech savvy, so I apologize in advance if this is a stupid question.

I had one blog that worked well. I then bought a second domain, downloaded WP to that domain and started another blog. I now can no longer login to the first blog. When I type in the admin URL for the first blog, it automatically reroutes to the admin URL for the second blog.

I want to keep both blogs separate, with separate logins. How can I do this?

    Thank you.

  • When you installed your second WP site did you use the same database or a different one? Are both installs on the same hosting account (ie. different sub folders)?

I’m sorry, I don’t know what it means to install on the same database or a different one.

Both sites are installed on the same hosting account. I guess that means they’re in different sub folders, but I don’t know.

    This is what I did:

I logged into my hosting account, bought the second domain, downloaded WP, logged into this second domain’s WP admin panel, published my first blog, and then when I logged out of it and tried to login to the first domain’s WP admin panel, it redirected me to the second one.

I think I’ve overwritten the original site. When I try to simply view the first domain, as a viewer, not an administrator, I get the second site. Is this possible, that I’ve overwritten the original site?

    Thanks so much for responding.

It is possible, either due to overriding the same database or config file. Could you check you have different config.php files for each of your sites and that they are both pointing to different databases?

I have called my hosting company to solve the issue. I didn’t download a separate WP to the second site. That was the problem.

Thanks so much for your help!
