I activated Jetpack with no problem when I had one WordPress site. I changed to a multiple site option with GoDaddy and am having problems activating Jetpack, at the initial point where it asks me to log onto WordPress to give permission.

It insists it wants my WordPress username and password. I give it, then it replies the password is wrong, despite the fact here I am logged into your site by using it. What does it want? New WordPress account for new URL?

Thanks for any help you can give.

It’s asking to connect to your WordPress.com account, not your self-hosted blog’s WordPress account.

Do you have an account at https://wordpress.com/ ?

Thought I did. Needed one to activate the Jetpack on my first WordPress site. In fact, I think that’s the account I’m logged in with to chat with you. However, this username and password get rejected if I try to use it to activate Jetpack on my site.

I do know if I try to start a new WordPress account at this site, it refuses because it already has this account under my email address.

No, you’re logged in with your WordPress.org account to chat with me. 😉

The two organizations are entirely separate. You essentially have 3 separate WordPress accounts:

    1. The login for your blog.

    2. Your WordPress.org login for the forums here.

    3. Your WordPress.com account for Jetpack’s connected functions.

Try logging in at https://wordpress.com/ and use the “Lost your password?” link if necessary. Once you know what that account is, connect it via Jetpack. 🙂

Thank you. Unfortunately, it still will not accept the password even when I correctly use my WordPress.com account but I have redirected my questions to them now. Thank you for pointing me in the right direction.
