is all of the content on the site ok? if it is you’ve probably not been hacked.

your hosting provider may have tweaked your server’s settings and this could be the issue. if you can get in touch with try to find out if that’s the case, if it’s not you may need to go into the database and set the password manually there.

Yes, all of the content works just fine. I did notice Dreamhost updated the new WordPress automatically. I’m not sure if that’s the reason I can’t log in because they’ve done that before and things have worked just fine. I just sent them an e-mail and hoping to get a response from them soon. How do I go about setting a password manually? Will I be able to do that as long as I have FTP access? Thanks.

you’ll need to access the database for your site via your hosting control panel (likely using the phpmyadmin feature).

once you’ve found it, look for the wp_user table, find your user name in the table, click the edit icon and then change the info in the user_pass entry. there’s a drop down menu next to it, select MD5 from that list (this is the encryption setting for the password). scroll down the page and click Go to save your changes.

head back to your site (yourdomain.com/wp-admin) and try the new login details.

hope that works for you. if not, then try to rename the Plugins folder to disable them all and see if that’s causing the issue.

Before you do that, rename the plugins folder. I know theotherlebowski says to try resetting first, but frankly, plugins first is a better bet.

Thank you for your help! I ended up doing some research in the PHP and found out my website was hacked. There were removal of users and what not. Luckily, I got access back and am good to go.
