Throw away the translation file to russian(the plugin translation WP update). It has only 8% translated and after updating WP it makes my own good translation work bad!! Exclude that goddamn garbage from the update pack! Why do I have to waste time to search & delete it every time after updating WP?!

    Are you speaking to me?

Community translations are managed by WordPress over at https://translate.wordpress.org/locale/ru

If you don’t want your custom translations overwitten, follow the advice here:

You or whoever no matter, what I tell is obvious. If I could change the update of the plugin I would. My translation file cannot be overwritten because I made it myself and put in another location, different to that garbage from the update. But I don’t want updates that bring me problems. And I think no one wants.

Question to the Author = why the current version of the plugin stores it’s translation files not in the proper place (which must be the “…\language” directory) ? And every update repeats it on and on. What is the use of such “update” then?

Loco Translate provides a “safe” directory

I don’t need such directory. It’s a mess. Make it keep all the translations in the …/language folder. I have my backup files and better I will replace them THERE. It’s better than a chaos with different file locations.

The problem is not in overwriting my files. The problem is – appearing additional files that brings me a problem.

On the second thought – deleting the new update PO file is not such a problem. But it’s a wrong decision about keeping the update files in the different place – and whats worse – even not in the plugin directory!

Loco Translate allows you to save PO files in any location you wish, and does not have anything to do with the updates you’re complaining about, nor the locations at which WordPress installs them.

If you’d asked me how best to use Loco Translate for your specific use case and personal taste, I would have helped you as best I could. I’ve seen every possible scenario you can imagine over the last four years, and all this experience has gone into the options available in the plugin.

However, as you’ve decided to rant at me instead of asking a polite question, I will leave you to work it out on your own, or use another plugin you like better.

If you have nothing to do with the wrong update location problem then just in case excuse me. I understand, the plugin author lets the plugin go swimming at ease after the plugin is done. Of course, because the plugin is for free. I understand. 😉
I already have found my own way to solve it. Excuse me for your wasted time.
