When you add a PO file it must sync to your template. To ensure that, it must be configured as the default template for the same text domain as your PO file. Probably this is not as it should be in your setup.

pls show me the right procedure..

Have you read the documentation on working with translation templates?

I have read the articles but still i cant get it working wright. It is pretty confusing to me. pls
If a add a language and press sync, i stil only get 5 strings to be translated (instead of the 146 strings i see in the template file)..
