  • I recently changed my phone number and reset my phone. Now, the Authenticator does not work; I do not have a backup code and I cannot reconnect Jetpack after troubleshooting some issues with Yoast SEO on my site. I can get into the admin without any problems. I just cannot connect Jetpack nor use the WordPress app on my phone. I’m having the same issue with Twitter as well.

Since I’m coming through the admin, it seems there must be a way for me to reconnect Jetpack for my site. I cannot create a support ticket because I have no proof of ownership.

    Any suggestions?

Unfortunately, nobody can reset your password except for the folks over at

You have to use their assisted recovery methods:

There is no other way to do it. Nobody can help you but them. They will indeed need some kind of evidence. Work with them and try to remember that they’re trying to help you. It can be frustrating.

Remember, the whole point of 2-factor is to prevent anybody from getting your account unless they have that second factor. If there was an easy way to get in when you lose it, then it wouldn’t be worth having it in the first place.

The only problem is that I can’t contact support without one of three proof of identity; none of which I have. I can’t log into the support forum because it will no longer take my username and password (I’m guessing it’s not the same as .org).

The fact that they don’t offer email address as an alternative for proof of ownership is ridiculous. The only reason I use is because of Jetpack. That’s it. I don’t use it for anything else.

I’ll try reaching out to Jetpack to see if they can help. Otherwise, I’ll have to find other plugins to do the work. All of this because I changed my phone number and reset my phone. This is crazy.
