Uh oh. I installed your great plugin but neglected the last step: ("Drag-and-drop your new bookmarklet into the bookmarks bar of your browser". Now when I login as "admin" I get the challenge, but there is no place to give the response, so I am locked out. Totally my fault.Your suggestion to resolve this please. (Using latest Firefox browser).

    Thanks

Hmmm. Trying to find the "login-dongle.php" file in the "login-dongle plugin directory" and get the following responses via search on ftp:

    Error 550 No such file(s) or directory(s).

    Now I'm really lost.

    Any help appreciated.

    Thanks

I've also run into a HUGE problem. I went to profile, users, your profile and set up the question and answer...saved it but didn't see anything about a bookmarklet...now I can't get ANYWHERE on the log in page...I saw the response about going into your FTP etc but I have no way of doing that...

    PLEASE HELP!!!

    Thank you

I know you're going to say to go to your FAQ page and see 'I've lost my login dongle. How can I access my blog now?' but I cannot access my WEBSITE because I don't have a usual remote file manager, like an FTP client.

So you both correctly understood that when something goes wrong with any WordPress plugin, the best thing to do is to deactivate the plugin. Login Dongle is not an exception. You only have to

    1. access your blog from any kind of remote file manager, be it by means of an FTP client or o a web interface
    2. enter the (...)/wp-content/plugins directory
    3. remove the login-dongle directory

Afterward you can log in again as you used to. Then you can decide if you want to give it another try or not. Hope this helps.

Immediately after activating Dongle and entering a challenge and the answer, I logged out. Didn't know there was another step. Since doing that, I have not been able to reenter my blog. But unlike the other people posting here, I am not savvy enough to understand your step-by-step. I haven't a clue about remote file manager or an FTP client or a web interface you speak of. Can you please elaborate? Thank you.

@Swisstoons: It is impolite to interrupt another poster's ongoing thread with a question of your own. Please continue with your previous topic.

@esmi, I just answered to @Swisstoons on the page you linked, thanks for that.

But that page is not linked to my plugin, it is not listed into my plugin's support requests, I'm not tagged as the plugin author, and I can't mark it as solved. Could you look into it or tell me how to fix it?

Unfortunately Swisstoons didn't post on your forum - just in the Plugins general forum. That's why you can't mark it as resolved etc. And mods don't have the ability to move topics into a dedicated plugin forum. All I can do is mark it as resolved on your behalf and then close the topic with a note to please open a new topic (if necessary) in http://wordpress.org/support/plugin/login-dongle

    Would that help?
