  • Very weird that with the location search, you will have to enter the “country” field, because otherwise the town or state fields do not give entries.
You will then have to explain visitors that in order to search for a specific town, they will have to enter country and state first. Very inflexible.
Also weird that with a website with properties only within one country, the country field still has to be used.

Another problem is, that in multilingual countries, addresses are written in those different languages.
I am building a website for Spanish properties. I build it in English.
I have now entered four towns from the province of Alicante, Valencian Community.
For three of those towns it states, for instance, Moraira, Alicante, Valencian Community. But fot the town Benissa, 5km further, it says Benissa, Alacant, Comunitat Valenciana. So the same region is in the search bar in two different languages. As Spain has 4 languages, this will cause problems.

Last, in Spain, in real estate business agents often do not have exclusivity of the property. Publishing the address would then just make that customers will go to the property owner directly.

I created a page in which the problems are shown:
    https://horecaba.es/advanced-search/

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hi there,

Using Country and State fields in search is optional. So, if all the listings on your website are located in one country/State just do not add these fields to Search. In this case, all the cities will be available for search regardless states and country.

As for translations, we would recommend to either enter all listings addresses in one language, or make your website fully multilingual. In this case each listing address will have to be added in all the languages you use on the website to make them searchable. This is a correct way for adding data to databases for its smooth work.

Last, in Spain, in real estate business agents often do not have exclusivity of the property. Publishing the address would then just make that customers will go to the property owner directly.

If you want to hide address, you can do it sitewide by disabling Show Address option in General Settings of Estatik plugin. In this case listings titles will be displayed instead.

Let me know if it helped.
    Thanks.

    Hi,

Thanks for your answer. Unfortunately, all three part answers didn’t help. Let me explain.

The state field is quite important to be able to narrow down the town list. Not right now with fout towns, but it will be once I promote the website in other regions as well. But when “town” can work independently from “state”, then why can’t “state” work independently from “country”?

I am not talking about translations in my website. My website is in English only. But google maps translates some locations into the Valencian language, and there is no way for me to change the text. I can enter the location in English, but it will revert to Valencian immediately.

You can hide the address, that is right. But in your plugin options there seems to be no way to hide the huge google maps, that automatically appears when you enter an address. I’ve hidden that now through “display:none”, but there should be an option to hide it completely, which would also save load times.

State can work independently from country. You don’t have to use Country field, just leave State and Town and they will work together smoothly. Please have a look at Quick Search on this demo page and let me know if this is what you were writing about or I’m missing out smth.

There is an issue with the language and the absense of Province field. I have passed this to dev team so they could fix it and include in the coming release (we need several days for getting it ready). If you want it to be faster, please submit a ticket via Support Area and we will add the fixes sooner before the release is out.

Totally agree with you. The new release will include an extra option in Settings to hide the map.

    Thank you.

Hi, thanks for your answer. You are incorrect though on the first thing: state does not work when country is not selected or unavailable.
I created a page with several search options to show you:
    https://horecaba.es/advanced-search/
On the last search box, i removed the “country” field and as you can see, state is not working now.

As of the province field. I am afraid that does not solve the issue, as the provinces are created, but also in the two different languages.

    To make that more clear:

the towns Benissa and Moraira are both located in the pronince of Alicante, in the Valencian Community. In fact, they are neighbours.

But when I enter Benisaa, it will be added as Benissa, Alacant, Comunitat Valenciana. Moraira will be added as Moraira, Alicante, Valencian Community.

As you see, the province name (Alicante) is written in Valencian as well in the case of Benissa.

I haven’t tested this for other regions, but since Spain has 4 or 5 different official languages, I can only imagine this problem will occur with much more locations.

    Hi, thanks for your reply.
We tested it deeply and agree with you that there is an issue with getting same Spanish address components from Google in different languages. But this issue relates just to some specific addresses. In your case it is Benissa city. When we add a property in Benissa, it saves province as Alacant. That’s why you get duplicates of regions (Valencian Community & Comunitat Valenciana) and provinces (Alacant & Alicante).
We added Province field and reproduced some cities from Alicante and there is an issue only with Benissa city that we can’t handle without coding (customization). We can solve it only by custom renaming of specific names into correct ones. =(
BTW on our demo at the moment you can see how it works without Country and State as well:

    Hi,

    Thank you.

I am aware that the “city” field works without country and state, but the “state” field should also work without country. That does not work at the moment.
That is no problem as long as I have a few cities in this state, but as soon as the list of towns and states grows, that filter really is necessary.

There are some more villages nearby that have valencian (Alacant) spellings:
El Verger, Benidoleig, La Nucia for instance.

Could you please check the demo again? I have enabled State as well. It works.. or am I missing something?
The only thing is that it saves Valencian Community twice because of Benissa city – that what I was writing about above.

ah I see. it doesnt work when there’s another search form somewhere on the page with “country” enabled, but indeed it does work when there is no “country” field on the page.

So that leaves the writing of the states, at least in some local cities in this area, but possibly in other spanish regions as well.

btw, can we activate province as well, because that would be great? simply adding “province” doesnt do the job…

    Hi there,
Province address component is already added in the coming release and it will work like country, state and city.
For example, you will be able to use it in shortcodes like
    [es_my_listing province=”ID”]
Or what do you mean by activation?
    Thank you
