    I have a test entry on a new si`te.

    Google Maps is enables as per the plugin docs.

    I have changed the “Default single event format” to read:

    <div style="float:right; margin:0px 0px 15px 15px;">#_LOCATIONMAP</div>
    <p>
    	<strong>Address</strong><br />
    	#_LOCATIONADDRESS<br />
    	#_LOCATIONTOWN<br />
    	#_LOCATIONSTATE<br />
    	#_LOCATIONREGION<br />
    	#_LOCATIONPOSTCODE<br />
    	#_LOCATIONCOUNTRY
    </p>
    <br style="clear:both" />
    #_LOCATIONNOTES
    <p>
    	<strong>Date/Time</strong><br />
    	Date(s) - #_EVENTDATES<br /><i>#_EVENTTIMES</i>
    </p>
    {has_location}
    <p>
    	<strong>Location</strong><br />
    	#_LOCATIONLINK
    </p>
    {/has_location}
    <p>
    	<strong>Categories</strong>
    	#_CATEGORIES
    </p>
    <br style="clear:both" />
    #_EVENTNOTES
    {has_bookings}
    <h3>Bookings</h3>
    #_BOOKINGFORM
    {/has_bookings}

    This should show both a map and an address in the display.

    Instead, I see this:
    http://psychic-fairs.com/events/psychic-faire/

    The address fields are blank and the map area shows the text, “Map Unavailable”.

    The maps DO work in the admin area.

    Any idea what I should check to correct this?

    Thanks,

    Brian

    Quick note: The maps/location placeholders DO work elsewhere on the site,. but none work on the single listing. Strange.

    http://psychic-fairs.com/events/psychic-faire/ BROKEN
    http://psychic-fairs.com/?post_type=location&p=66 WORKING

    Your problem is being caused by some invalid Javascript.

    The following is being included in the head section of that page:
    <script charset="utf-8" type="text/javascript">var switchTo5x=;</script>

    You’ll need to find what is adding that code and disable it. Try disabling plugins one by one until it goes away.

    Thanks,
    Phil

    Thanks for the quick reply. That was the “Share This” plugin. I’ve disabled it, but no joy. The error persists.

    Any other errors you’re seeing?

    (@bchabot)

    I have tried turning off every active plugin and switch themes to include the “Twenty Ten” theme. The error is still there.

    I tried disabling ALL plugins (except the Events Manager)and switching to the “Twenty Ten” theme and the error still persists.

    Anything else?

    ther emust be something else you’re doing here, either a customization to the themes or other custom you added (e.g. in content/mu-plugins) because maps don’t have this problem on a default WP theme and no other plugins installed.

    what’s also odd is some links are nicely formatted permalinks yet others are ‘ugly’ permalinks e.g. ?post_type=location… it should be all one or the other

    Thread Starter bchabot

    (@bchabot)

    I made no changes. This is a brand new site.

    I deleted Events Manager and re-installed from scratch. The problem persists.

    There are NO customizations. Not in the theme and not in any plugin.

    I’ve disabled unnecessary plugins and pared down the available themes to just the one I’m using and those from the WP team.

    I even turned off permalinks.

    The error is still there.

    What else would you suggest? As this is a brand new site, I’m Ok giving you an admin account to take a look around. Email me at bchabot@gmail.com if this is an option.

    If there’s a mixture of permalink styles, try re-saving your permalink settings to see it that resolves the problem.

    we don’t go into sites on here unless it’s clearly a bug in EM that we want to reproduce (e.g. when many ppl report it and we can’t replicate it). on our pro forums once we exhaust the common possibilities/fixes we’re happy to take a closer look.

    Firstly, I’d suggest trying the twenty twelve theme. It may be your theme.

    (@bchabot)

    You obviously were not listening. I already tried that. I’ve tried everything I could think of other than debugging your code for you.

    OK. I’ll humor you.

    Voila.

    Twenty twelve theme. Stock.

    ALL other plugins disabled.

    Permalinks set to “Default” aka, off.

    NOW take a look. Problem persists.

    sorry for missing that but bear in mind that today I’m going through 30+ topics on a free forum. If I don’t skim, this is a full-time job.

    I think the major problem here is that there’s no published location. E.g. if I visit this – http://psychic-fairs.com/?post_type=location&p=66 – no location exists.

    Have you tried viewing your location via Events > Locations and making sure it’s published? Worth saving it again either way.

    Secondly, what shows in the admin area?

    Also, unrelated but whilst looking I spotted that you seem to have the same problem as this person – http://wordpress.org/support/topic/warning-creating-default-object-from-empty-value-20?replies=5 – on your page –
    http://psychic-fairs.com/?event-categories=portion-non-profit

    If you would like to chime in there with a screenshot it may help us reproduce/fix the issue.

    Ok, I think I found the issue.

    You mentioning you don’t see the locations at http://psychic-fairs.com/?post_type=location&p=66 tipped me off, because I see the location *there* just fine.

    I just scoured the FAQ, Troubleshooting Guide, and Documentation.

    As far as I can tell I was using the plugin as documented… but you missed a very important piece of information in there.

    I have been seeing the locations just fine on the locations page… but then I’m logged in.

    It seems (and this is not documented anywhere I can find) that if you add a new location inside the “New Event” form, even if you’re the Administrator of the site, the location is added as “Pending”. Even if the event is approved, the location must be approved separately.

    This is counter-intuitive, undocumented, and there does not appear to be any setting to change this.

    I seem to have gotten it all working now.

    actually, now that you mention it, that’s a bug that we’ve fixed in yesterday’s 5.5 release (and earlier dev versions). sorry for the confusion!

    I just found a minor bug.

    If you edit an event, the event list lists the edited/published date and not the event date. The widget displays the correct date.

    Example:
    http://psychic-fairs.com/events/psychic-faire/
    The event listing (and also on the main listing/search result page) shows August 8th. The Events widget shows the correct date of 31 Aug.

    Nevermind. My bad. I typo’d the formatting.
