Unfortunately, the visitor location is always unknown. And the GeoIP database does not automatically update anymore with the latest version.

Can this please be improved again ?

Please make sure the following option is enabled in the setting page.
Schedule monthly update of GeoIP DB

To see exactly about the cros, you can install the https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-crontrol/

The city is still unknown for all visitors. I actually use hashed IP addresses. Is this maybe a problem here and should I better switch to anonymized IP to get the cities ?

The GeoIP doesn’t work if the hash IP addresses option is enabled.
