  • Hi All,

I have got a generic question, sometime it is really hard to locate an element in the backend to edit such as footer or buttons.I have to explore all the menu to find or sometime I couldn’t;t fine. Is there any way either on the front end or backend to see where actually the element is to edit? I know inspect window on chrome helps with the images but how about other elements?

    Will appreciate your assistance
    thanks

If it’s not part of page content where using the “edit page” admin bar link will get you there, it can indeed be difficult. You can check the widgets screen, many times boiler plate content comes from there. Otherwise you need to check the templates used, which requires some understanding of PHP even if you cannot write your own code.

Even finding the template used can be a challenge. Fortunately there are a few plugins that will help with that. Then locate what part of the template (which could be a separate template part file) outputs the element in question. How that is done will be a clue to where the content comes from if it’s not right on the template itself.
