    Greetings to all,

I’m a non-tech newbie totally new to WordPress, servers, and all. I’ve just installed a localhost Bitnami package (v. 5.4.2-1) on a Win 8.1 laptop. I simply validated the default paths, labels, names, etc. that popped up during the process, then started to fumble around learning to set up a website.

From what I’ve understood, this site is entirely contained within the following directory named “wordpress”:
    C:\Bitnami\wordpress-5.4.2-1\apps\wordpress\
(This folder in turn contains the following subfolders: bin, conf, htdocs,
    licenses, and tmp)

    Is my guess correct?

If it’s the case, can I rename that “wordpress” folder by using my Windows Explorer, or do I have to do it through the WordPress or myPHP admin access? I plan to create several separate projects, hence the need for specific names.

I haven’t done much work on the first site yet, but I wouldn’t want to mess things up at this stage, either.

    Big thanks for your help!

  • Yes, you can create sub-directories under the apps wordpress path in Bitnami.

    Greetings,

@corrinarusso Thanks for the video. It didn’t trace an immediate straight-line to the solution, but it did provide clues and bits and pieces of where to go.

So, I eventually managed to create a second site by running a Bitnami “module installer” from the command line followed by the new folder name I wanted. This folder now appears right under the first “wordpress”. Still haven’t succeeded in renaming “wordpress” to “wordpress1” yet, but I’ll leave that out for the moment.

Here’s where I still have a doubt. When I type “localhost” on my browser, it opens the Bitnami WordPress access page. But there’s one single link, which leads by default to the initial site (“wordpress”). If I want to go to “wordpress2”, I have to type it myself into the url. Is there a way to display on that localhost page the different sites that have been created?

Oops. I’ve just realized it’s not possible to upload images directly into the post, but only via url link. And I don’t have any image hosting account.

But it’s not that important for me to have all my sites accessible through a link from the localhost page. So I’m considering this thread solved.

See you, for future upcoming questions. There sure will be :-).
