# Localhost WordPress instal

 * I just have WordPress on XAMPP but I can’t download new themes, plugins and photos
   it said : “Unable to create directory wp-content/uploads/2018/05″. Is its parent
   directory writable by the server?”

 * If you work on a Mac localhost a quick and somewhat dirty fix is to give “777”(
   read, write, execute) permissions to the wp-content folder. Check the folder 
   permissions.

 * Access your server via [SFTP or FTP](https://codex.wordpress.org/FTP_Clients),
   or a file manager in your hosting account’s control panel (consult your hosting
   provider’s documentation for specifics on these).
 * Go to your WordPress installation folder. and right click on the wp-content folder
   select ‘File Permissions’ and set the numeric value to ‘755’ or ‘777’ and test.
